Optimizing CKD Detection and Multidisciplinary Care in Type 2 Diabetes

This case-based session explores how earlier identification of CKD, appropriate use of GLP-1 receptor agonists, and coordinated team-based care can improve outcomes for patients with T2D and CKD:

• Review key 2025–2026 evidence and guideline updates influencing CKD screening expectations in people with type 2 diabetes, including contemporary use of eGFR and uACR in routine care
• Examine how kidney risk stratification is evolving to inform monitoring intensity, therapeutic timing, and cross-specialty referral in current practice
• Discuss recent and emerging data on GLP-1 receptor agonists in patients with T2D and CKD, with a focus on renal outcomes, cardiovascular risk modification, and patient selection
• Engage in expert-level case discussion, live Q&A and interactive polling highlighting real-world controversies, decision points, and practice variation entering 2026

Faculty

Leigh Perreault, MD is an endocrinologist and Professor of Medicine with expertise in type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cardiometabolic disease. Dr. Perreault is widely recognized for her work translating metabolic research into practical strategies for diabetes prevention and management.

Robert Busch, MD is an endocrinologist specializing in diabetes and metabolic disorders in Albany, New York, practicing with the Endocrine Group. He earned degrees from Brandeis University and University of Pennsylvania and completed training at North Shore University Hospital.

Sankar Navaneethan, MD is a nephrologist and Professor of Medicine specializing in diabetic kidney disease, cardio-renal risk, and outcomes research. Dr. Navaneethan focuses on improving CKD detection, care coordination, and evidence-based treatment strategies in patients with diabetes.
