Description

This activity is supported by an independent education grant from Lilly. This online education program has been designed for healthcare professionals globally, excluding the UK.

Join leading expert Dr Ralph Audehm for this accredited virtual webinar. Utilizing immersive, narrative-style clinical cases and interactive global case dialogues, this expert-led session equips healthcare providers with the tactical, evidence-based strategies needed to confidently adopt novel anti-obesity medications, optimize precision patient selection at the point of eligibility, and proactively manage treatment side effects through patient-centric monitoring.

Participants will gain actionable strategies for overcoming clinical hesitation, navigating complex therapeutic plateaus during GLP-1RA therapy, and implementing the proactive safety protocols essential for managing adverse events—such as nausea and hypotension—and maximizing the long-term benefits of modern weight management strategies in global obesity care.

Session Highlights

  • Early Recognition and Prioritization in Acute Care: Learn how to effectively introduce and navigate weight assessment conversations during brief, routine clinical visits, such as acute consultations for new-onset knee pain or medication refills.
  • Initiation of Management at the Point of Eligibility: Explore evidence-based strategies for identifying clinical eligibility and initiating advanced weight management interventions when traditional lifestyle efforts or diet applications fail to produce durable results.
  • Managing Therapeutic Plateaus and Non-Response: Gain tactical insights into evaluating treatment efficacy 16 weeks into GLP-1RA therapy, addressing patient discouragement, and clinically determining the next steps when initial weight loss stalls.
  • Patient-Centric Monitoring and Side-Effect Mitigation: Master proactive protocols to monitor and manage common GLP-1RA adverse events—such as nausea, vomiting, and lightheadedness from low blood pressure—to prevent premature treatment discontinuation and optimize long-term outcomes.

Learning objectives

  1. Employ bias-aware communication and structured shared decision making (SDM) at the point of diagnosis, utilizing the patient's specific metabolic and mechanical complications to collaboratively set function-based goals for people with obesity.
  2. Initiate guideline-concordant treatment plans – integrating pharmacotherapy, structured lifestyle interventions, and surgical referrals – while implementing workflows to monitor physical function and preserve body composition.
  3. Apply structured reassessment algorithms to determine treatment efficacy, true therapeutic non-response amid weight plateaus, and timely treatment escalations.
  4. Formulate proactive long-term adherence pathways – including proactive side-effect mitigation, the timely review of concomitant medications, and a patient-centered review of therapeutic options.
