Description

This activity is supported by an independent education grant from ArgenX. This online education program has been designed solely for healthcare professionals in the USA. The information is this program is not suitable for any other country.

Join leading experts Dr Abigail N. Schwaede, MD and Dr John Brandsema, MD for this accredited virtual webinar. This is a 60-minute live-virtual, case-based roundtable designed to strengthen clinical decision-making in Pediatric Myasthenia Gravis (PMG). Led by specialists, this session explores complex real-world management challenges across diagnosis, ongoing care, and treatment selection through three evolving patient cases.

Participants will examine strategies to identify atypical or seronegative presentations, differentiate PMG from similar pediatric neuromuscular disorders, and individualize management across the pediatric-to-adult care continuum. Attendees will also evaluate emerging clinical evidence and targeted therapeutic mechanisms, utilizing interactive polling and live Q&A to translate insights directly into daily practice.

Session Highlights

  • Confident PMG Diagnosis: Learn to spot atypical and seronegative presentations early while effectively differentiating PMG from mimicking pediatric neuromuscular conditions.
  • Longitudinal & Transition Planning: Tailor treatment selection and monitoring strategies to optimize care across the evolving pediatric-to-adult care continuum.
  • Emerging Therapeutic Integration: Review recent clinical evidence and targeted mechanisms of action to define patient selection criteria for novel therapies.
  • Interactive Expert Roundtable: Engage with faculty during real-time decision-point polling and an audience-driven Q&A to address complex, real-world practice challenges.

Who Should Watch

This program is designed for HCPs involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and longitudinal management of pediatric patients with PMG across academic and community settings:

  • Pediatric neurologists
  • Neuromuscular specialists
  • General neurologists
  • Pediatricians
  • Advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants)

Faculty

Dr. Abigail N. Schwaede, MD, is an Attending Physician in Neurology at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Neurology and Epilepsy) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dual-board-certified in pediatrics and child neurology, she earned her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by a child neurology residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University and a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at Lurie Children’s. Dr. Schwaede specializes in pediatric neuromuscular disorders with particular expertise in immune-mediated diseases—including myasthenia gravis, acquired immune-mediated neuropathy, spinal muscular atrophy, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy—and contributes to clinical research focused on electrodiagnostic utilities and outcome measures for pediatric muscle diseases.

Dr. John Brandsema, MD, is an Attending Physician in the Division of Neurology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he specializes in pediatric neuromuscular conditions, pediatric electromyography, and nerve conduction studies. Certified in pediatric neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, he earned his medical degree from Dalhousie University, completed a pediatric neurology residency at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and pursued a neuromuscular medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Brandsema’s clinical research focuses on evaluating novel targeted therapeutics through clinical trials for rare neuromuscular disorders, centering his practice on a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model that empowers families and optimizes patient quality of life.
