This activity is supported by an independent education grant from BMS. This online education program has been designed for healthcare professionals globally.
Join leading experts Dr Corey Kershaw, Prof Toby Maher and Dr Fernando Martinez for this accredited virtual webinar. This interactive, 60-minute webinar follows a realistic patient journey to demonstrate how cross-specialty collaboration and clinical decision support tools can improve the early recognition, diagnosis, and long-term management of pulmonary fibrosis.
Session Highlights
- Real Patient-Centered Case Study: Follow the realistic journey of a single patient ("Margaret") to examine critical clinical decision points across the entire pulmonary fibrosis care continuum.
- Early Risk Recognition & Timely Referral: Discover how to leverage Clinical Decision Support (CDS) tools to catch autoimmune-associated ILD risks early, enabling prompt referral before severe symptoms emerge.
- Simulated MDT & Diagnostic Workflows: Experience live Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) decision-making, utilizing structured HRCT reporting templates and automated dashboard alerts for Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis (PPF).
- Treatment Optimization & Emerging Therapies: Gain actionable insights into managing antifibrotic tolerability, handling adherence flags, and evaluating novel, emerging therapeutic mechanisms.
- Navigating Hard Conversations: Engage in interactive simulations focused on conducting sensitive, proactive Advance Care Planning (ACP) discussions as disease progression occurs.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas–Houston and completed his residency and fellowship at Emory University. Board-certified in pulmonary and critical care medicine, Dr. Kershaw leads clinical research in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and related interstitial lung diseases, contributing to multiple industry-funded trials advancing PF therapies.
Prof Toby Maher, MD, PhD, is the British Lung Foundation Chair in Respiratory Research, Professor of Interstitial Lung Disease at Imperial College London, and Director of the NIHR Respiratory Clinical Research Facility at the Royal Brompton Hospital. Having earned his medical degree from Southampton Medical School and his PhD from University College London, he is an internationally recognized expert in interstitial lung disease (ILD), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and connective tissue disease-associated lung disorders. Prof. Maher leads an extensive translational research program focused on biomarker discovery and early-phase clinical trials—serving as global Chief Investigator for major IPF and ILD studies—while actively contributing to specialist societies and serving as Associate Editor for the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr Fernando Martinez, MD is the Joseph D. Early Chair in Biomedical Research, Professor of Medicine, Vice Chair for Clinical and Translational Research, and Academic Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care at UMass Chan Medical School. Earning his medical degree from the University of Florida with postgraduate training at Beth Israel Hospital and Boston University, he previously held chief leadership positions at Weill Cornell Medical College and the University of Michigan. An internationally recognized authority on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung disease (ILD), including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), Dr. Martinez has authored over 700 publications that have fundamentally shaped international clinical guidelines. His current NIH-funded research focuses on advancing precision medicine by integrating genetic and molecular biomarkers to pioneer targeted, individualized therapies for complex fibrosing lung diseases.
