Description

This program is supported by an independent education grant from Pfizer. This online education program has been designed solely for healthcare professionals in the US. The content is not available for healthcare professionals in any other country.

In this virtual webinar, leading experts Dr Seth Wander, Dr Mark Pegram and Jamie Carroll deliver a 45-minute live, expert-led virtual roundtable designed to improve healthcare professional performance in optimizing and sustaining first-line maintenance strategies in HER2+ metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Delivered in an interactive tumor board-style format featuring a community oncologist and an oncology nurse practitioner, this session simulates real-world multidisciplinary decision-making across complex, evolving patient cases.

Participants will evaluate patient- and disease-specific factors to personalize first-line maintenance strategies, including endocrine integration and optimal treatment sequencing in HER2+/HR+ MBC.

Credits: 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (0.75.00 hours)

Session Highlights

  • Personalized 1L Maintenance: Evaluate patient- and disease-specific factors to tailor first-line maintenance plans and integrate endocrine therapy in HER2+/HR+ MBC.
  • Evidence-Driven Decisions: Translate recent clinical data into actionable treatment selection, sequencing, and transition strategies for routine practice.
  • Proactive Toxicity Management: Implement multidisciplinary care strategies to effectively manage treatment toxicities and support therapeutic continuity.
  • Simulated MDT Collaboration: Participate in real-time tumor board decision-making and interactive Q&A with a community oncologist and oncology nurse practitioner.

Dr. Wander’s clinical and translational research focuses on breast cancer genomics and precision oncology, leveraging advanced molecular sequencing to decode mechanisms of drug resistance and design novel, personalized clinical trials. An active trialist across all phases of drug development with over 70 peer-reviewed publications, his work has earned recognitions including the ASCO Young Investigator Award and the Dana-Farber Wong Family Translational Research Award.

Dr. Mark Pegram, MD, is the Suzy Yuan-Huey Hung Endowed Professor of Medical Oncology, Associate Dean for Clinical Research Quality at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Associate Director of Clinical Research at the Stanford Comprehensive Cancer Institute (SCCI), and Medical Director of the Stanford Clinical Translational Research Unit. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completed his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and completed fellowship training at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Pegram’s research focuses on the HER2 oncogene, the development of targeted therapies for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, and the clinical implementation of oncology biosimilars. Author of over 110 peer-reviewed publications, he leads extensive translational research and early-phase, first-in-human clinical trials.

Jamie Carroll APRN, C.N.P M.S.N is a nurse practitioner with a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner certification, currently working for Mayo Clinic in Breast Cancer since July 2015. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating in 2012. Her clinical interests are in quality improvement within the breast cancer teams, ensuring under-represented individuals have access to quality health care, promoting equity and an inclusive and supportive environment for all patients. She is involved in the RAINBOWS clinic at Mayo which is an affirming clinic for LGBTQ+ patients with breast cancer. Jamie also strives to improve survivorship for breast cancer patients. Jamie enjoys education of students, nurses and fellow colleagues across the nation. She has earned the status of Assistant Professor through Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
