  • Implementing Multimodal, Evidence-Based Treatment: Using a clinical scenario of a patient on positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy who displays persistent symptoms and worsening metabolic risk, faculty will demonstrate multimodal escalation strategies that combine PAP troubleshooting, cardiometabolic management, and weight-loss therapy.
  • Applying Screening Tools and HSAT-Supported Pathways: Participants will walk through a case where a high-risk patient faces a delayed referral due to unclear clinical thresholds, learning proper screening tool selection, home sleep apnea test (HSAT) initiation to support a timely diagnosis, and structured referral timing.
  • Planning Multidisciplinary OSA Care: Addressing a case scenario where a specialist clinic defaults to treating OSA with PAP therapy alone, faculty will model an integrated management plan that coordinates obesity management, oral appliances, cardiometabolic evaluation, and structured follow-up across medical specialties.
  • Implementing Simplified Diagnostic Algorithms: To address cases where high-risk patients face months-long wait times for laboratory polysomnography, the session will demonstrate streamlined screening methods, HSAT-first algorithms, and integrated pathways that directly link obesity, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and OSA care.

Dr Jessica Schwarts Pumar is a Specialist ENT and Sleep Surgeon at American Hospital Dubai and a highly regarded authority in advanced sleep medicine and surgical interventions. A Diplomate in Sleep Medicine and a board member of the Ibero-American Society of Sleep Surgery (SIBECS), Dr Pumar specializes in the comprehensive management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). She is recognized as a pioneer in the region, being one of only three physicians—and the first female specialist—in the UAE to perform hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) therapy, an innovative upper airway implant procedure for patients with complex sleep apnea. Bringing a unique blend of surgical precision and cutting-edge clinical expertise to this online teaching session, Dr Pumar provides healthcare providers with practical, evidence-based insights into the latest diagnostic criteria and transformative therapeutic pathways for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea.
