Description

This activity is supported by an independent education grant from Lilly. This online education program has been designed for healthcare professionals globally.

Join leading expert Dr Pierre N. Tariot, MD for this accredited virtual webinar. This is a 60-minute, expert-led, case-based virtual consultation designed to translate evidence-based cognitive health guidance into practical clinical action within the tight constraints of routine primary care. Grounded in established frameworks such as WHO healthy aging priorities and NIA guidance, this session demonstrates how clinicians can proactively integrate cognitive risk identification, patient communication, and care planning into brief everyday patient visits.

Participants will learn to recognize subtle cognitive risk factors during routine appointments, initiate unprompted conversations using patient-centered language, and utilize "Trigger Tool Action" frameworks to guide assessment choices. Through real-time clinical tool application, faculty "thinking aloud" modeling, and decision calibration polling, attendees will gain strategies to support earlier intervention, longitudinal monitoring, and disease-modifying or lifestyle management tailored to their regional practice realities.

Session Highlights

  • Proactive Risk Recognition: Identify subtle cognitive risk indicators during routine consultations, even when cognitive health is not the patient's primary presenting concern.
  • Patient-Centered Dialogue: Master practical techniques to initiate unprompted cognitive health discussions using concise, comfortable language.
  • Actionable Assessment Frameworks: Apply structured "Trigger Tool Action" decision models to select the right cognitive tools and determine next steps within workflow constraints.
  • Longitudinal & Early Care Planning: Connect immediate assessment outcomes to long-term care, encompassing lifestyle interventions, chronic care management, and disease-modifying therapies.

Learning objectives

1. Appropriately integrate new data and recommendations into routine practice to consistently select prevention-focused actions, including risk factor modification and promotion of cognitive health practices.

2. Conduct appropriate baseline cognitive assessments while employing practical communication strategies to initiate and integrate conversations about cognitive health, cognitive preservation, and cognitive decline into efficient and routine healthcare.

3. Utilize validated risk assessment and screening tools to systematically identify, prioritise, and act on modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors for cognitive decline during routine healthy aging clinical assessments.

4. Apply the clinical understanding that AD is a continuum with neuropathological changes preceding symptoms by several decades to systematically integrate comprehensive Alzheimer's disease management, spanning evidence-based lifestyle interventions to appropriate disease-modifying.
