Join leading experts Dr. Reena Mehra and Dr Jessica Schwartz Pumar for this comprehensive educational module on implementing multimodal, evidence-based Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) treatment. Utilizing detailed clinical case studies and treatment algorithms, this expert-led session equips healthcare providers with the actionable strategies needed to optimize CPAP adherence, confidently integrate structured lifestyle interventions, and adopt novel anti-obesity pharmacotherapy into patient-centric management plans.
Participants will gain critical insights into navigating treatment non-adherence, maximizing the disease-modifying benefits of weight loss, and coordinating a multidisciplinary approach to seamlessly mitigate the cardiometabolic risks associated with moderate-to-severe OSA.
This is Module Two of Three. Modules One and Three can be found here.
Session Highlights
- Optimizing CPAP Adherence and Side-Effect Mitigation: Master proactive protocols to monitor and manage common CPAP barriers—such as mask leaks, claustrophobia, and dry mouth—using targeted patient education, cognitive behavioral therapy, and device optimization to prevent premature treatment discontinuation.
- Implementing Comprehensive Lifestyle Interventions: Explore evidence-based strategies for integrating the ATS guidelines on structured weight management, focusing on personalized caloric reduction, scalable physical activity goals, and ongoing behavioral support as a disease-modifying foundation for obesity-related OSA.
- Integrating Anti-Obesity Pharmacotherapy: Gain tactical insights into adopting incretin-based therapies, such as Tirzepatide, to significantly reduce the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), lower blood pressure, and target cardiometabolic risk through both weight-dependent and weight-independent mechanisms.
- Coordinating Multidisciplinary OSA Management: Learn how to effectively navigate complex therapeutic plateaus and persistent metabolic risks by building collaborative care frameworks that bridge primary care, sleep specialists, and cardiometabolic teams to maximize long-term patient outcomes.

Faculty
Dr Reena Mehra, MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and a staff physician at the Cleveland Clinic, where she serves as the Director of Sleep Disorders Research within the Neurological Institute's Sleep Center. Her extensive research portfolio focuses on the intersection of sleep and cardiovascular health, specifically investigating the relationship between sleep-disordered breathing and abnormal cardiac electrophysiology. Through both epidemiological analyses and clinical trials, she explores how various sleep disorders contribute to cardiovascular disease, establishing her as a key contributor to the understanding of the hemodynamic and mechanistic links between sleep apnea and cardiac outcomes.
Dr Jessica Schwarts Pumar is a Specialist ENT and Sleep Surgeon at American Hospital Dubai and a highly regarded authority in advanced sleep medicine and surgical interventions. A Diplomate in Sleep Medicine and a board member of the Ibero-American Society of Sleep Surgery (SIBECS), Dr Pumar specializes in the comprehensive management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). She is recognized as a pioneer in the region, being one of only three physicians—and the first female specialist—in the UAE to perform hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) therapy, an innovative upper airway implant procedure for patients with complex sleep apnea. Bringing a unique blend of surgical precision and cutting-edge clinical expertise to this online teaching session, Dr Pumar provides healthcare providers with practical, evidence-based insights into the latest diagnostic criteria and transformative therapeutic pathways for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea.
